About the Million Meals campaign
A revolution is underway in school food. Since September 2006, every pupil taking a school lunch is guaranteed, by law, a balanced, nutritious meal.
We now need to make sure they are eating them and the 'Million Meals' campaign aims to do just that.
If you represent a school, talk to your head teacher and sign up today using your school's URN number.
In return you will get access to a panel of experts and champions who will be able to give insights into how they have transformed their meal service and answer any queries schools may have. There is also a dedicated section of this website containing case studies, films, details of visits to members' schools and a host of other resources. The most successful approaches will be recognised in our Roll of Honour scheme.
Stay on Site Guide
The School Food Trust now has a published a guide for introducing a Stay on Site Policy in your school for Million Meals schools.
For many schools a stay-on-site policy has provided a number of opportunities to support improvements in the health and well-being of children and young people. These benefits include increased access to a healthier diet, improved afternoon attendance and increasing use of lunchtime clubs, all of which have a positive impact.
All of this and more is available now to member schools. To access this, simply log-in or register.
Not a school - you can still register your support for the campaign and help us to help schools make sure that more children are heating healthy, nutritious food and fulfilling their potential.
"The health and wellbeing of children is a passion we all share. That's why I am giving the Million Meals campaign my full backing and I urge all schools to join up"
The Rt.Hon. Ed Balls MP
Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families
